Yoder Solutions for the Automotive Manufacturing Industry

Yoder Solutions for Automotive Industry Manufacturers

Since the advent of the Model T, Yoder has been supplying machinery and complete roll forming systems to the automotive industry. With over 100 years of experience in manufacturing metal forming and fabrication machinery, it’s no wonder so many businesses in the automotive industry still trust and rely on Yoder. Yoder has supplied machinery for over a century to produce various amounts of automotive components including co-extrusion, trim, bumpers, frames, interior, or other structural components.

As the design and manufacturing process of automobiles has evolved over the years, Yoder has provided the equipment that enabled several automotive elements to utilize welded metal tubing for safety and performance including fuel lines, crash breams, and even exhaust systems. For the production of crash beams, bumpers, and frame components, Yoder offers a few methods in conjunction with the tube manufacturing: notching, hybrid welding, and heat treating, which can all be integrated. The Yoder WH-series tube mills are application tested to deliver the high-strength, performance-focused tubing required for these structural safety elements. For exhaust tubing, the products are typically a large diameter, light wall thickness, high D/t ratio. For the manufacture of such tubing, Yoder’s experience in tooling design and the precision tube making machines combine to ensure the exact tolerances required for producing exhaust and emission controls tubing.

The Yoder name is synonymous with the production of single wall fuel line tubing worldwide.  For several decades, Yoder has developed and continually refined its Cold Reducing Tube Mill technology for small diameter tubing. The Yoder W-15-S Cold Reducing Tube Mill System welds a tube up to 1.25” (31.8 mm) diameter and can produce finished diameter down to 3/16” (4.76 mm) diameter. Wall thicknesses range from 0.020 to 0.040” (0.05 to 1.0 mm), but applications up to 0.060” (1.5 mm) have also been done. Typically, the Cold Reducing Tube Mill is set up with a multi-station recoiling system for continuous recoiling of the tubing, but an in-line cutoff for producing straight lengths can be included as well.

Our application engineering team can help select the appropriate Yoder machinery solution for your automotive application, considering the materials, size, and production needs to fit your business.

Integrated Systems From Formtek

As a part of the Formtek family of metal forming and fabricating solutions, Yoder systems can be seamlessly integrated with B&K, Dahlstrom, Hill Engineering, Lockformer Custom Machinery, Tishken, and Winpro solutions to deliver optimal results for your operations.

Roll Forming & Flexible Fabrication Systems

Formtek can integrate multiple fabricating processes and systems from B&K, Dahlstrom, Hill Engineering, Lockformer Custom Machinery, Tishken, Winpro, and Yoder to streamline and reduce the labor in your manufacturing operations. Whether it is flexible fabricating or roll formed products, Formtek can engineer and build a complete manufacturing system, from coil or sheet handling through finished product, for your application.

Consolidate Notching and Fastening Operations

The systems can be complex, involving multiple notching, bending and/or roll forming machines with welding, such as the production of office furniture wall partitions. Such systems may eliminate a dozen or more manual operations. Digital controls and batch production capabilities can allow the process to vary position and quantities of engineered features without setup time.

Eliminate Multiple Press Brake Operations

These integrated roll forming and flexible fabrication systems from Formtek can be as simple as manufacturing roof panels or shelves by hand feeding metal sheets into the roll former.

Engineered To Order

Each Formtek System is designed and manufactured to optimize the processing of your products.
